Ron Bullock

Ron Bullock Building Contractors was formed in 1962 by Mr. Ron Bullock. Following his death in 1988 this medium size business has been run by Suzanne Johns, Ron’s daughter. The business became limited in 2006 and has continued the family tradition with the involvement of the third generation, Ron’s granddaughter, Nicola Johns who is assisting in the management of the business following her experiences in other avenues of life.

The company prides itself with its long standing good name and fast steady relationships with a broad client portfolio. Our good name has been achieved by the continued development of our highly motivated and skilled work teams where quality of work is our most successful company advertisement.
The company has been operating a high quality joinery workshop and conducting both minor and major construction projects since 1962. These projects have ranged from private dwellings and complexes, new schools, upgrading hospitals and alterations to specialised children centres.
We have gained a vast amount of experience working as a main contractor and our capabilities have seen the company grow from managing small classroom alterations (£15,000 value) to constructing ECO cottages and “high-end market” private dwellings (>£1M value).

We have worked closely with the County Councils and Area Health Authorities, working in “live environment” Schools and Hospitals. Each project has been completed in a professional and sympathetic manner, co-ordinating with clients and staff to minimise disruption and normal methods of working at the relevant sites.

In more recent years we have conducted work at Children’s Centres in Newquay and Truro, gaining knowledge and understanding of specialised needs and additional skills to work within these environments.

When acting as main contractor to various projects it is our responsibility to manage our sub-contractor/partner operations i.e. mechanical, electrical and numerous specialised trades to ensure that high standards of work are maintained. Many of these trades have been regular partners for over 40 years and have developed, not only a good working rapport, but a clear understanding of the high standard of work expected.

Health and Safety is one of our top priorities and we always ensure that the safety of employees, clients, pupils, staff and the general public is never compromised. Within every project undertaken we produce our own CDM (Construction Design Management) file indicating our site specific Health and Safety rules.

We are active members of the following trade organisations:
National Federation of Builders - NFB
British Woodworking Federation – BWF
National House Building Council - NHBC
Construction Industry Training Board - CITB
Cornwall Construction Training Group - CCTG
